This is the 108 beads Soto sect buddhist rosary.
Clear quartz is a type of transparent, pristine quartz, also known as 'the ice of spirits' due to its beautiful glow. When it reflects light, it emits a rainbow-like shimmer and is believed to possess pure, cleansing energy. It is popular as a power stone for purification and enhancing concentration.
In Japan, Buddhists have Prayer beads (Juzu, Nenju). Kyoto is famous as a producing center of Prayer beads.
Prayer beads are a traditional tool used to count the number of times a mantra is recited, breaths while meditating, counting prostrations, or the repetitions of a buddha's name.
