Keyaki (Japanese zelkova) is a species of tree native to Japan. It is often grown as an ornamental tree and used in bonsai. It is renowned in Japan and used for furniture.

About this juzu

This Prayer beads is for the Tendai Buddhist school. Tendai is a school of Mahayana Buddhism in Japan, a descendant of the Chinese Tiantai or Lotus Sutra school. A center of Japanese Tendai "Enryaku-ji temple" is on Mount Hiei, Northern Kyoto, recognized as UNESCO World Heritage Site.

In Japan, Buddhists use Prayer beads (Juzu, Nenju). Kyoto is a famous producing center of Prayer beads.

Prayer beads are a traditional tool used to count the number of times a mantra is recited, the number of breaths while meditating, the prostrations, or the repetitions of a Buddha's name.
